Cisco phone designer that was part of UCM 7.x was a great app for users to customize their own phone.  Anyone know why it was End of Life'ed with no replacement?

Hi,

The Phone Designer widget is EoL:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6789/ps9829/end_of_life_notice_c51-663729.html

I'm not sure why it was EoLed and there is no replacement product. You can take a llok to this 2rd party tool and see if it meets your needs:

With Phone Designer was possible for the user, also to create custom ringtones and upload these themselves to the own IP-phone.

There was a 'cull' a few years ago and Cisco removed a number of free widgets/applications, same time as CUAE was EOL'd

As to why, we may never know, but I suspect it was down to cost, however the inteface to allow background pushing using Personlization is still in-place in the latest UCM Versions.

So there is no end-user focused tool for managing phone backgrounds, however the most effective 3rd Party application is PhoneView from UnifiedFX (http://www.unifiedfx.com). Not only can you push out images quickly and effectively, you can actually see the screen of all the phones (yes you can actually see 10,000+ phones remotely! )

Also, PhoneView supports updating backgrounds to CUCME phones too

Kind Regards.
