I have a user that has a Silver Plantronics CS55 wireless headset connected to the headset port on her 7941G. Callers to her are getting echo when she uses her headset.
I suspect that there is an amplifier in the headset base station that is causing this issue.
Does anyone know where I can find a list of BlueTooth headsets that have been tested with 79xx phones?
Thank You,
Brian

The Microphone input volume. It's a value on the bottom of the unit. That's the major value.
You can adjust the minor value with the +/- on the back next to the microphone image.

Hi Brian,
This issue was caused by an amplitude change in the phones in the 8.4.1 upgrade.
If you set the values to A and all the way up, or B and all the way down, this should solve the problem.

Sorry,
Which values do I set to A or B?

Hi Nick,
Interesting info here my friend! +5 points for this. Is this a permanent change for all firmware 8.4(1) and beyond? Or a bug?
The reason I ask is that we have at least 100 of the CS55's deployed and I hate to think we will have to touch them all when we go beyond our current firmware 8.3(4)sr1.
Cheers!

Hi huffman, I would like to ask you a question concerning CCNA Recertification:
I visited CISCO website and I read this information about CCNA re certification:
"CCNA Recertification
CCNA certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, either pass the current CCNA exam, or pass the ICND2 exam, or pass any 642 professional level or Cisco Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams), or pass a current CCIE written exam."
My CCNA, certification will expired tomorrow, After tomorrow if I pass any 642 professional level exam, Will I be CCNA re certify again or I will need to pass CCNA again?
Thanks

Hi Amaury,
Sadly if you pass the 642 - Professional level exam after the expiration date of your CCNA you will have to start over from scratch.
Sorry man!

Thanks rob.huffman for you help.
Then why CISCO says that: or pass any 642 professional level

I do not understand.
If my certification experied tomorrow, I only have tomorrow to pass any 642 professional level exam?
Thanks

Hi Amaury,
The key clip here is this;
"CCNA certifications are valid for three years."
This means that any re-cert has to be completed within this three year period. I would not mis-lead you on this. You could also try to re-take the CCNA tommorrow.
Hope this helps!

Hi Rob,
This is actually considered an enhancement to the phone loads. When I was doing research for the duplicate DTMF phone load bug on 8.4.1 ( CSCsv.something ), I thought this echo in the headset was related.
The true story is that is was determined that the side tone (feedback on the phone) was not high enough. There were some third party system that required the side tone to be louder and comparing the side tone to other things, it was found we needed to increase the amplitude.
Since the wireless headsets have some delay between the earpiece and the phone, they can not pass the sidetone directly from the phone to the earpiece. Since they're powered, what they do is use an echo canceler to remove the sidetone and then create their own sidetone into the headsets. Unfortunately, when the amplitude of the side tone has increased the Echo Return Loss (ERL) was lowered ,and the echo cancellers no longer picked up on the sidetone as echo. Thus, after 8.4.1 there is sidetone that makes it's way from the phone as well as the headset. The way around this is to decrease the microphone volume so that the input volume is lower, and then the echo canceller can work properly.
It's kind of interesting. But no, there's not a bug for it.

Hi Nick,
Thanks for the great feedback! +5 points for this and for all the fine work you do here. We'll have to come up with a plan for our next firmware upgrade, but it sounds like the overall performance of the CS Series will improve (so that's a good thing :)
Cheers!
Rob
PS: Have you tried the HHC for Plantronics, pretty cool! Our users love the ability to answer calls from the Headset itself.

We have here the GNNetcom/Jabra GN 9350 with the HHC Adapter on the 7975. This Wireless Headset isn't cheap and GNNetcom says it's well for Cisco VoIP Phones and has great Voice Quality. But the Voice Quality is very poor. Is there a way from the Cisco side to make it better ( some settings on CUCM ) or has Cisco certified some Wireless Headsets for Europe that has a better Voice qulity?
