Dear All ,
Pls let me know once the label is stripped off from the packet can we use the same label . If yes then if there any rule that label can only be used for same VPN from which it was stripped off or it can be used for any VPN .

Hi Nikhil,
The label is locally siginificant, which means same label can be used elsewhere to advertise it local vpn routes. Having said that each vpn label has to be and is unique on a given PE. The reason for this is when the PE receives the packet it only has VPN lable on top of it to identify the outgoing vpn interface. If the same label was assigned to ohter vpn prefixes on the same PE router then, the PE router wont be able to forward the packet to the right vpn.
To answer your question, whether the same label can be used after stripping it, No.
But the same label can be used for other VPN prefixes on the same PE when the existing VPN which is holding the label is removed or decommisioned.
HTH-Cheers,
Swaroop
