I have an issue I wish to resolve.
I’ve got one customer router with 2 links, coming from me to them and need to put "ip pim sparse-dense mode" in place on each interface But when I turn this on for each interface it over whelms the customer and the feed becomes poor. How can I make it so that only one interface is active at a time for multicast (and the other is in a standby mode) This is not an ospf or bgp setup and therefore i can not use HSRP.
Thanks

why dense mode? Have you tried just sparse mode. Also what traffic is swamping the links? tried QOS?

we are just using the default statement, has no bearing one weather we could do a failover or not. QOS. No did not try that one and thanks, i will attempt that one and see. We have 2 56k links entering the router and there can only be a max of 30k. I could probibly do it with rate limiting to make surte we do not go over the 30k. Pluse the far end gets confused by when its receiving the multicast from two locations. I figured doing a standby would make things easier. Thanks for your input.
