VPLS sub interface macs learning

Hello team,

We have 17 ASR 9000 PEs XR 5.1.3 Metro Ethernet network connected to our broadband core. We have recently deployed vpls instances to migrate our p2p Xconnect services to vpls.

Issue is being encountered when adding multiple sub-interfaces to single instance.

Only one MAC learn on vpls instance from one sub-interface only. No other MAC learn for other sub-interfaces added to same instance.

We have set mac limit of 100000, so no question of MAC capping at vpls instance level.

We have configured 5 vpls instances and behavior is same on all. Only very first sub interface mac learn, rest not learning.

Shall appreciate community's valuable feedback on this issue.

Probably some bug, have you considered upgrading to 5.3.4 code please?

Also have you considered using EVPN instead of VPLS –if it’s a new rollout I would not recommend doing legacy VLPS.
