Hi Karthi,
It is possible to implement Prime Network without unit server. The AVMs 101 & above where the VNEs for the respective network elements are modeled can be hosted in the Prime Network Gateway server, provided there is enough memory. By this way we can avoid the unit server. But this way of implementation may not scale well & could be suitable only for small networks.

- Why focus on 2 products and or what are the core differences between prime network and prime infrastructure ?

Hi,
Prime Infrastructure is a discovery engine with element management capacity like an EMS. It is more suitable for the Enterprise customers to manage individual elements.
Whereas Prime Network provides end to end management of the complete network. It is a NMS suitable for Service Provider customers.

Vignesh,
I do not really get the difference between Prime Network and Prime Infrastructure from your explanation. If I mangage all individual elements of a network I also manage the complete network from end to end so where is the difference ? Is there a difference in functionallity (config management, alarming, etc.)? At least it seems to me that Prime Network still supports legacy devices where Prime Infra only supports latest devices (even not Cat 2970, 3550)
regards,
Martin

Hi Martin,
The Cisco Prime Network supports core communication protocols/technologies like MPLS TE, MPLS VPN, ISIS, OSPF etc used between the Network Elements whereas Cisco Prime Infrastructure is not capable of the same. For example if ISIS between two routers goes down in the network, Prime Network would create a ticket for this and all the events leading to the protocol going down would be correlated under the ticket. Once ISIS comes up this ticket would be cleared.
Hope this explanation provides more clarity.

Hi experts,
I was wondering how would I be able to use Cisco Prime LMS version 4.2.2 to push shutdown commands only to ports that are "notconnect" across my entire network?
Sandy

Hi Sandy,
This thread is meant for discussion related to Cisco Prime Network. Cisco Prime LMS is outside the scope of this thread and we would like to remain within the scope, for the sheer reason of not diluting this thread.
Apologies for the same & thanks a lot for understanding.
Warm Regards,
