hye all,

Is there a way to do automated isdn testing. Basically our network consists of one central site with country wide branch sites which dial in to the central site when their primary link fails(L/Ls primary and ISDN as backup configured using floating routes) and it is anot feasible to telnet in to each router to test the isdn .We have a network monitoring s/f installed(HP Openview NNM) but with readonly snmp string.

you could shut down the primary link from the central site.

If it's frame relay, shutdown the subinterface. Ping a device on the far end and see how long it takes to come back up. It shouldn't take too long.

Telco's seem to change ISDN all the time. If you don't test it on a regular basis then it may not work when you need it. I have the same setup as you. I created and expect script to login to each router and do a manual dial and email me a report so I can see if ISDN was working.
