Can Prime LMS 4.2.5 topology services display links status online?

Hi,

Is there a way that topology services display the status of links and devices online?

That if a router interface goes up/down the topology services will show it online?

Thanks,

Omer,

Not exactly clear on the description, though please confirm from the following :

> You want to see links to show when it has active traffic? Between two devices?

OR

Do you mean the topology will display the when an interface goes down?

If any one of the above is your question, unfortunately this is not an option. Topology in LMS is basically designed around showing if device is active/online or not, and its status can be determined by the color Red or Green.

In terms if link, you can use Network Topology Views to display information about links between discovered devices and the type of link connecting the devices.

It means it shows what kind of link it is : like ethernet, FastEthernet, Port Channel, trunk etc.

Apart from this you can right click on link to generate attribute reports which has details like from, to, ifType, Speed etc.

Topology was never designed to fault management, particularly on interfaces/module level, it is under Fault Management portion of LMS.

For more details on Topology Links, please check document here.

Please let me know if this addresses your concerns.

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

I need some topology map that my montoring guys can look at and if a interface/device fails they automatically know about the issue.

It has to be a topology map.

Is there any function like that in the LMS?

Thanks,

For a device, yes it is possible, as it will show the device in Red when down, but it may not show this when an interface goes down.

Interface/module alerts are done by Fault Management, which can send email notification, Syslog or SNMP alerts.
