Can't Force SSH input on 2500 router

I'm studying for my ccna, the 2500 router I have will not allow forced ssh input on the vty lines, I know my commands are correct, I'm using a cisco book I got at bootcamp.

Can't figure out why it won't let me use ssh only....

thanks

I imagine your router (IOS that is) doesnt support it,

You need crypto code on your router to run ssh . The 2500 is so old I don't think they even supported it in that era . Unless your imagename has a "k9" somewhere in the imagename it is not a crypto version. More than likely your router will not support ssh .
