We are running Solarwinds Orion and am looking at the IP SLA monitor, the requirements are to have a Cisco Device at each remote site which we can enable ip sla on.
Does anyone know what would be the cheapest Cisco device if I had to buy some for each site would.
What I am trying to find out is what is the requirements to run IP SLA
Little router? Basic Switch?
Thanks
Roger

Cheapest device is sureley an existing device :-) as it is free.
Depending on what tests you want to do some devices will work others won't.
Do you want to have a device per remote site to monitor the local devices?
If not a single central device can run tests towards end-devices that are not even cisco.
Cheers,

Hi Michel,
I don't have any Cisco kit at most remote sites, so am looking to purchase a suitable device for the purpose of IP SLA.
Not sure where to look to find out what device would be best, i.e a little router or a switch etc.
Thanks
Roger

If you want to test the latency between the main site and the remote sites then you don't nessecarily need cisco equipment on the other side.
The source device, running the tests needs to be a cisco IOS device but the target can be a lot of devices depending you test.
Cheers,
Michel
