Cisco Network Assistant and WS-C2960-48PST-L

Hello all,

I have strange issue with new WS-C2960-48PST-L switch. When I'm trying add this device to Cisco Network Assistant (v.5.4) community I'm getting status message "Unsupported device type".

I install this switch only with basic configuration (setup only IP and passwords).

What can I do in this situation?

The program is reporting consistent with the current release notes which do not list that particular switch model as supported. Unfortunately, you will be out of luck until at least the next release of CNA with this switch.

I'm having the same problem. The real annoying thing is that it says it's supported by the CNA on this page: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps6406/product_bulletin_c25-512173.html

We're about due for a CNA update so hopefully we have one soon.

Ok. Thank all for answers.

I have the following switches that show as "Unsupported Device Type" -

WS-C3850-24P (qty 4)

WS-2960X-24PSQ-L (Qty 1)

WS-C3750G-24PS (qty 3)

That's my Cisco inventory.  Every ... single ... switch ... is ... "Unsupported Device Type".

What is the purpose of Cisco Network Assistant if it doesn't support Cisco switches?

What version is your Cisco Network Assistant? According to this data sheet 2 out of 3 of your devices are supported in the most recent release:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/cloud-systems-management/network-assistant/datasheet-c78-730210.html

It is also worth noting that CNA is a very old product. The discussion to which you added your question began in 2009. And Cisco stopped supporting CNA in mid 2020. So your complaint about products not included has validity - and will only get worse. So you might want to look for some alternative.

What alternatives are there?  I tried the Cisco Configuration Assistant but that doesn't recognize the switches either.  I recently needed a couple 48 port POE switches and went with Aruba because of how poorly Cisco is with central management.
