Hi Han,

Flexible NetFlow or NetFlow v9 is supported on almost all Cisco platforms with atleast IOS 12.2(31)SB. Flexible NetFlow with major reporting options like Multicast, MPLS, IPv6, NBAR, etc requires atleast IOS 12.4(22)T. You can check the below link for details on IOS support:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/fnetflow/configuration/guide/fnetflow_feat_rdmap_support_TSD_Island_of_Content_Chapter.html#wp1056007

Does IOS Ver 12.2.(33) SXI5 /6500 support this?

I was trying to configure but the command wasnt taken,

thanks,

Han

I guess you are using the ME6524. The specified IOS image does not  seem to support Flexible NetFlow, but only NetFlow v5 or v9 as per Cisco  Feature navigator. Please try the configuration as below for NetFlow  export from your device:

mls netflow

mls nde sender version 7

mls aging long 64

mls aging normal 32

mls flow ip interface-full

mls nde interface

ip flow ingress layer2-switched vlan

ip flow export layer2-switched vlan

ip route-cache flow  // This command has to be executed on all the L3/VLAN interfaces.

ip flow-export destination {hostname|ip_address} 9996

ip flow-export source {interface}  // The interface through which NetFlow packets are exported. eg: Loopback0

ip flow-export version 5

ip flow-cache timeout active 1

ip flow-cache timeout inactive 15

snmp-server ifindex persist

Hi Don,

can you tell me if for the support of flexible netflow in IOS 12.x with Sup 2T, an ip service image license is needed ?

I coulc not find the info about a possible requirement of ip service instead of ip base.

Thanks

Jacky

You are right, there is very less info. From what I gathered from the feature navigator, you need an IP Services license or higher on your device for Flexible NetFlow support. Flexible NetFlow will work on an IP Base image if you have IOS 15.0(1)SY or higher.
