How many bytes per ! when transferring using SCP? HTTP?

I am transferring files from a Linux server to my switches for upgrades, etc.  I despise TFTP for many, many reasons and use SCP whenever possible.  But, I'm not sure how many bytes are transferred every time the "progress meter" shows another ! in the terminal.  I'm also not sure how to change that value.  Google has not found any relevant information about this either.

What does the community think?

Each exclamation mark means a successful transfer of ten packets (1 packet = 512 bytes)

I think you can find something in Cisco tftp documentation but i learned that at the beginning of my career that's why i answered 🙂

Quick note that the equation has been changed in more recent IOS versions to 256KB per ! exclamation mark.
