Link status monitoring

Good day,

We have a point to point link between us and a client. We have a cisco router 2911 on our side and the cable is on a GigabitEthernet0/1 interface.

We are monitoring the link on our end using snmp and we receive alerts whenever the interface is down.

We have a situation where the interface is showing up up on our end and we can't ping the other end.

The client has no resources to monitor the interface on the other end.

We are looking for a solution to configure something locally on our Cisco router to monitor the IP of the interface on client's side. The configurations must be setup in a way that the interface drops on our end whenever the the IP of the other end is not pingable.

Regards

Nelson

This is normal in WAN environment since you NTU connected to provider always UP, that is the reason your side interface up and running. and you not able to ping another side device.

How are you resolving this issue ?

You can use IPSLA and EEM Script for this purpose and send email or alert.
