Hello everyone,
I am having issues with LMS 4.2.4 soft appliance - starting custom discovery - the interface actually says that the discovery is starting, but it ends very fast and the results are always 0 devices found. The process CSDiscovery is in "Transient terminated" state.
Has anyone encountered this before?
Thanks in advance!

From the pdshow , I found few other imp services are also down.
follow the below steps to regenrate the SSL certificate:
1.stop the LMS service
(2) Then proceed to /opt/CSCOpx/MDC/Apache/conf/ssl and delete the following files: server.crt server.csr server.key server.pk8 (3) Do a /opt/CSCOpx/MDC/Apache/bin/ConfigSSL.pl -disable (4) then ConfigSSL.pl -enable (5) /etc/init.d/dmgtd stop Wait 10 minutes (6) /etc/init.d/dmgtd start Wait 10 minutes and then access the application.
now run the discovery job again and see how it work.
If possinle add one of the SEED device in the CDP module as well and see if it makes any difference.
Thanks-
Afroz

pdexec CSDiscovery and see how it works.

hi,
i tried running the "pdexec CSDiscovery" command from the shell, but the process stays as transient terminated and the discovery still returns 0 results.

thanks for the quick replies.
I have killed the process and then started it manually, but, as soon as i start the discovery, the process returns to transient terminated and the discovery instantly ends with 0 results.

share the output of pdshow
Gather the below information. 1. Truncate the existing log files CSDiscovery.log & ngdiscovery.log using the below command /opt/CSCOpx/bin/logrot_trunc1. Enable discovery debug for all modules @ Admin > System > Debug Settings > Discovery Logging Configuration 2. Run discovery and share the below files. · CSDiscovery.log & ngdiscovery.log · CSDiscovery-config.xml and system-config.xml file from /opt/CSCOpx/objects/csdiscovery/

Hello,
After this, the discovery works with both ping sweep and cdp.
I think the original issue was a 2 state one: one was a LMS issue, and the other was a firewall in another location which had a limit for icmp sessions/source set too low.
Thank you for your help.
