Network Monitoring Tool

Hi All,

got several switches on LAN(6509,2950,2960,3550,3560,2550) & serveral routerz on the WAN, i am looking for a network monitoring tool where it should show almost everything in the network behaviour & also i should get alert over email & sms, so can any one suggest which is the best tool?

how about Cisco Lan Management Solution?

Hi,

I don't know what you want exactly monitor. You can use nagios for check device accessibility and services. (http://www.nagios.org open source software) Or Cisco Works contains WhatsUp, but this is not free.

I believe no other management works better with cisco other then CiscoWorks.Check out this link.

Though HP OpenView is also a good tool.

Cisco has a new tool that I believe is called NSM, which is just an OEM'd version of Opsware NAS, but customised by Cisco. I would highly recommend buying this from Cisco and using it to manage your network, it is one of the latest nextgen tools that Cisco has available through their new partnerships. If you need more than NAS, check out Cisco Info Center (CIC) which is the OEM version of the Micromuse Netcool product suite.
