Is cisoworks usefull if you don't run CDP specialy if you want to use a network layout. Are there other ways to scan your network.

Hi Jefta,
RME and DFM will be fully functional.
Campus will be seriously crippled as it relies a lot on CDP.
Cheers,
Michel

I second Michel's opinion.
I have seen some questions over the years on folks who are reluctant themselves or asked/required by their secuirty apparatchiks not to run CDP. I contend that for a private or firewalled internal network, use of CDP is a best practice (assuming a Cisco network - I'd say the same for EDP in an Extreme network, etc.). It is minimal overhead and allows the ANI discovery process, upon which Campus Manager (CM) relies, to accurately map your network. One can seed CM with all of your devices, but you then have a manual process with a human in the loop that you depend upon - opportunity for error. Why spend $20k on a full featured network management tool (CiscoWorks) and then cripple it?
