script based solution with Nagios to monitor CISCO hardware

HI Team,

Do we have any script based solution that we can use with Nagios to monitor our Cisco hardware. The purpose of the script to get us notified in advance for hardware issue (CPU/DIMM/Disks etc.) on CISCO hardware so that we can fix it in agreed maintenance window and unplanned reboot can be avoided.

Regards

Ashish Pal

 - The idea and or core of nagios is to no longer need a script for those purposes , usually what  you want is accomplished by configuring snmp (requests) with the relevant OID's in the nagios configuration for a particular device. Hence alerts can be configured too when a certain threshold gets exceeded. Nagios also supports collecting snmp traps and   alerts accordingly if needed.

You can use SNMP to monitor, and lot of stuff around nagios forum :

             -  No  , controller(s) don't do alerting for memory issues.

Hello,

which device do you actually try to monitor ? See if you can access the OID below:

CISCO-ENHANCED-MEMPOOL-MIB OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.221  --> monitors memory pools of all physical entities
