SNMP and IP Flow

whats is the purpose of using snmp command alone or using ip flow command alone....or using both commands at a time on router.

snmp-server community public RO

snmp-server community mares1 RW

snmp-server ifindex persist

snmp-server location DXB-DC

Hi,

Both these commands are unrelated and each cater to different purposes.

SNMP has a wide variety of uses typically associated with device management on networks. There are many articles about SNMP available on the web.

The "ip flow" commands you have pasted is related to NetFlow. NetFlow is an IP traffic monitoring technology from Cisco (also available with various other vendors) which can help you with bandwidth monitoring and traffic analytics. The commands you have pasted is just part of the NetFlow configuration. Read more on NetFlow from here:
