Unable to Boot Cisco 3850

Hi,

I tried to upgrade my cisco switch IOS version from 3.06.06 to 16.03.06 while doing so, i am facing issues in installing the IOS. Even switch is not booting now. Below are the commands available and attempts i made to install the IOS. Please help me the steps to properly install the IOS

Hi there,

Looks like you have tried a lot of different boot options! Have you tried booting the bin file from flash:

boot flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9.16.03.06.SPA.bin

The USB stick needs to be formatted.

As others noted, what are you trying ? Upgrade ?

this is wrong syntax if you like to boot:

switch: boot flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9.16.03.06.SPA.conf

instead try just issue boot

or try bundle mode

switch: boot flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9.16.03.06.SPA.bin

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I tried with the command and was able to boot the switch. But it is now in bundle mode. I tried to convert it to install mode by using software expand command. but this command is not recognized. Can you please help me if there is any way to convert to install mode.

If someone (bothered to) read the Release Notes, Cisco has changed the command to upgrade the IOS from 16.X. Instead of the "software install" command it is now "request platform" command.

Yes, i am trying to upgrade ios. in one of the steps i by mistake deleted packages.conf file and copied it back from its redundant switch. (not sure if this is correct procedure) and trying to boot it. When i boot, by default it is entering into ROMMON mode. and not booting at all. Manually i am booting with the command boot flash:XXX.bin file. It is then able to boot and showing my existing configuration. but as said, it is in Bundle mode. I am unable to convert to Install mode.
