Hi,
I was wanting to know what people use to document firewall rules. We have a reasonably complex set of rules and NATs etc.
At present I am using Excel as I think it would be very difficult to make an easy to read Visio diagram. But Excel is not that easy to look at and understand well.
Is anyone able to give be some feedback or examples?
Regards,
Scotty

Setup tftp server and send runing config to save on that server. Notepad will be your best friend for for saving and edit your ACL documentation wise.
thx,
Eric

Depends, it sounds like you are looking for documentation that explains what and why rules are there, and not just a restore/backup config doc ?

Hi there, thanks for the feed-back.
Yes I am after some ideas to what people use for actully documenting the firewall rules NATs etc. That would explain to another person (not an ASA expert who can read through a config) how traffic is handled or allowed etc.
thanks
