Auto-Negotiation on SFP-10G-T-X

Is there some trick to getting auto-negotiation working on a SFP-10G-T-X connected to a 'UCS VIC 1467' (UCSC-M-V25-04) MLOM adapter?

The compatibility matrix claims a few supported speeds, but we've been unable to connect to a couple different network switches of lower speeds.

Thanks!

It is the way Cisco programs the switch.

The only time I saw SFP-10G-T and GLC-T/TE enable variable speed is when they are connected to a 6500 or some selected Nexus switches.  The IOS version that has this feature is not widespread.

What speeds are you talking about ?

So we're connecting from 10G SFP on the server MLOM to the first port on a C9200, and hoping to get sync:

Switch#show interfaces GigabitEthernet 1/0/1 capabilities
GigabitEthernet1/0/1
Model: C9200CX-12T-2X2G
Type: 10/100/1000BaseTX
Speed: 10,100,1000,auto
Duplex: full,half,auto
Trunk encap. type: 802.1Q
Trunk mode: on,off,desirable,nonegotiate
Channel: yes
Broadcast suppression: percentage(0-100)
Unicast suppression: percentage(0-100)
Multicast suppression: percentage(0-100)
Flowcontrol: rx-(off,on,desired),tx-(none)
Fast Start: yes
QoS scheduling: rx-(not configurable on per port basis),
tx-(2p6q3t)
CoS rewrite: yes
ToS rewrite: yes
UDLD: yes
Inline power: no
SPAN: source/destination
PortSecure: yes
Dot1x: yes
Multiple Media Types: rj45
Breakout Support: not applicable

The compatibility matrix for the SFP shows:

SFP-10G-T-X100M/1000M/10G bpsSFP+30mCat6A/7CopperRJ-45Copper-5 to 85C UCS Manager v4.2(1a)

So we're wondering where the issue is.

 - I think the C9200 will not support auto-negotiation  , disable it and or set a fixed (intended) speed at  both ends,

I don't know if that's true, because if I connect the C9200 port 7 to an old 10/100 NetGear switch, it goes 100Mb/s:

Switch#show interfaces GigabitEthernet 1/0/7
GigabitEthernet1/0/7 is up, line protocol is up (connected)
Hardware is Gigabit Ethernet, address is 748f.c2f1.9f07 (bia 748f.c2f1.9f07)
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 100000 Kbit/sec, DLY 100 usec,
reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255
Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set
Keepalive set (10 sec)
Full-duplex, 100Mb/s, media type is 10/100/1000BaseTX

But then disconnect and reconnect to a 10G copper SPF on another C9200, it goes to 1000Mb/s:

Switch#show interfaces GigabitEthernet 1/0/7
GigabitEthernet1/0/7 is up, line protocol is up (connected)
Hardware is Gigabit Ethernet, address is 748f.c2f1.9f07 (bia 748f.c2f1.9f07)
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 1000000 Kbit/sec, DLY 10 usec,
reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255
Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set
Keepalive set (10 sec)
Full-duplex, 1000Mb/s, media type is 10/100/1000BaseTX

So it must be something on the server/MLOM side: the C9200 can negotiate to the 10G copper SPF on another C9200, but it can't when the SPF is on the server/MLOM.

SFP-10G-T-X= working with 6509-E sup2t, version 15.5(1) SY8 ?

will it work if i type service unsupported-transceiver?

 -  @startx001           No to both   ,
