C and S Class :

10 Gbps S-class vs. C-class.

For UA to core campus applications, S-class are quite suitable.

C-Class

S-Class

Multi-rate vs Single-rate

Multi-rate optics:

  • Ethernet
  • OTN
  • WAN-PHY

Single-rate optics:

  • Ethernet only

Operating temperature range

  • Commercial (0C to 70C)
  • Extended (-5C to 85C)
  • Industrial (-40C to 85C)
  • Commercial (0C to 70C) only

good compare here from FS- same applies most of the SFP.

Hi Manu,

The main difference between the two Cisco SFPs is that SFP-10G-LR supports FCoE, whereas SFP-10G-LR-S does not support FCoE.
This is why the variant 10G-LR and 10G-LR-S have a slight difference in prices.

Which means that if you have an interconnectivity between the two distant sites and you need to pass the FCoE traffic, you must consider SFP-10G-LR

This will also be helpful for you in planning the relevant BoQ.
