3845 - Gateway DSP resources

Hi all,

I'm planning my first gateway install and wanted to confirm that I have the correct amount of dsp resources for my install.

I want to have 120 channels after completion, and already have 2 x NM-HDV2 with 2 x VWIC-2MFT-E1-D1 controllers. From the dsp calculator I've worked out 2x PVDM2-64 's should do the job.

What confuses me is that the NM-HDV2 install guide says each PVDM2-64 can handle a maximum of 32 G729a channels.

Can anyone suggest the correct requirement?

Hi,

You don'tneed the NM-HDV2 with the ISR router like the 3845. The PVDM2 will fit directly into the motherboard (up to four modules) and the VWIC or VWIC2 directly into the WIC slots.

This said, if you want 4 x E1 (120 channels) of G.711, you will need 2 x PVDM2-64. If you want compressed voice, like G.729, you will need 4 modules.
