7940 phone upgrade problem with CCME 3.x

We just tried to upgrade our phones from a 3.2.2 firmware image load to a 5.x. We copied the 5.x .bin firmware files to the 2650 router and had the phones go through the upgrade and now the phones are coming up with an invalid protocol message on the screen. Can this process be reversed back to the old image? or what should be the best way to upgrade the phones to the latest version compatible with CCME 3.2.2?

What problem were you trying to fix with the load that came with 3.2.2? If there wasn't one then just go back to that.

You should just be able to put in the load 7960 command under telephony-service configuration to specify the original load - just make sure you have the tftp-server command in to serve the file.

If you've upgraded to a signed image you'll need to use the .sbn load file as opposed to the .bin.
