Conference Bridge and PVDM question

Folks.

I have a remote IPT site which has phones which connect to my call manager on the central office.

I need to configure the local router ( Which is the local PSTN Gateway ) to act as a Conference Bridge. The router is a 2651XM with a VIC-E1MFT card / AIM-VOICE-30 and a NM-HD-2V with a VIC-4FXO on it. Do you know the exactly commands in order to configure it on this router?

Another question: I wanted to install an additional PVDM2-32 Card on this router. Is it possible or did I use already all the available slots for that?

Thanks

You will need another router, or a bigger router to add conference bridging. You need a dedicated NM-HD-2V or NM-HDV with no VICs for a DSP farm.

On the new ISR 28XX/38XX routers you can use some onboard DSPs for voice call term, and some for DSP farm.

Thanks for your response.

The VIC on the NM-HD-2V will be used only as backup. Even tough do you think it's not possible to use it to create a DSPFARM? Also is there a way for to install the PVDM2-32 card on this router?

Thanks and regards,

Hi

The DSPs for whatever cards you have in there will be assigned as the router starts up, so they won't be available...

DSPs on the 2600 series have to be in the form of either the AIM cards or on an NM, so you'll probably need something else to do them... I have had conferencing working on a 1760 with DSPs on the main board and a fairly recent version of IOS though.

Thanks for the respose Aaron.

I have the AIM-VOICE-30 Card installed on the router which should be used for the VIC-E1-MFT. May I use the DSP resources from there?

Also is there any space on router's board to install more DSP? Like the PVDM2-32 card?

Thanks and regards,

Hei Folks.

I tried this:

Removed the FXO card from my NM-HD-2V and reloaded the router. Went to the voice-card 1 prompt and changed the codec complexity to flex. When I'm the global configuration mode on my 2651XM router and try to issue the command dspfarm confbridge maximum sessions I only have 0 available!! How can I use this card as a dsp resource???

Thanks.

I don't think you can use the dsps on the NM-HD-2V as a conference resource, if you had a NM-HD-2VE you would be able to use those dsps, if you did not use them for a T1. In the past, you have not been able to use the dsps on the AIM module for conferencing either, maybe that will change some day. Here is a link to the 4.0 SRND that talks about what you can use, it is a little outdated as it shows the new NMs as not yet released, but good discussion.

Also, here is a link to the data sheet for the NMs, table 2 shows how many NMs can be installed in each router, and the 2600XM can only take 1.
