Hello,

I want to connect to a Cisco IP-Phone 7960 via telnet. When I try it, I get the message "not available". I´m using skinny-protocol on the phone.

1. What and where have I to configure to get telnet

access to the phone ?

2. What cable do I need to plug into the serial-port

of the phone ?

Regards,

Alexander Czutka

There is no Telnet or Console access to the phone when using SCCP. You can web into the phone to gather statistics but there are no configuration or diags that can be done via Telnet/Console access when using SCCP.

Thank you for your answer !

Hi,

If i use another protocol, can i do the Telnet or console??

Hello,

if you use SIP as the communication-protocol, you can telnet to the phone!

Alexander

Hi,

How can i get access via telnet? only using the ip address?

Hi,

yes, you have to telnet to the ip-addres of the phone!

First you must enable telnet-access in the phone configuration. But you need SIP as the communication-protocol.

For further information read the SIP-Phone Manual.

Alexander

Please could you share link of the manual that you reference.
