We have a new DMP4300 that looks to be in a rolling boot. We cannot find the console port settings listed in the Getting Started Guide or some of the other manuals.
There is a steady stream of console output, but we cannot see what it is telling us. Can anyone tell us what the console port settings are?
Does it support the console port?

Hi hattwick
There is no console connection in the DMP4300 series, the serial port you have is used for RS-232 connectivity to the LCD TV. The only way to connect to the DMP is by using network, for that you need to make sure that you connect the DMP in a network with DHCP enabled and have the DMP connected to a TV so you can see what is the IP address that DMP picked up.
Once you get that info you can connect to the DMP using an internet browser. If you are not able to see any output I would try to check if the network port is properly configured and has DHCP working (just connect your laptop in that port and you should get an IP). If you have sure the DHCP is enable but nothing is coming in the TV you can try to reset the DMP, hold the reset button for 10 sec and release it.
Hope the information above helps.
Thank you

Hello,
Just a follow-up to Rubens comments. Ruben's comments are relevant to DMP-4300G, DMP-4305G, and DMP-4400G. The are also correct in general reference to the DMP-4310G. Your title of your question states DMP-4300 and then you state "New" DMP. So this is a little confusing since we do not sell DP-4300Gs anymore. So my assumption is that you bought a "New" DMP-4310G.
The difference here is that there is a RS-232 port and a Console port. Other DMPs do not have this "console" port.
On the DMP-4310G, ports are used as follows:
* RJ45 RS-232 port for console connection (only used by development engineers, not supported for customer use)
* Ø3.5mm Jack for RS-232 port connection (to control displays or other devices that accepts RS-232 inputs)
So if you connect a console cable to the "Console" port you will probably see gibberish. This is expected behavior at this time. Sorry for the confusion. I will submit an enhancement feature to disable standard output by default to avoid future confusion.
As for your problem, please follow Ruben's response in troubleshooting issue:
* Make sure the DMP is connected to a DHCP aware network
* Make sure the DMP is connected to a Display
* Reset the DMP to factory defaults by pressing and holding the "reset" button on the back for at least 10 seconds
The DMP should restore to factory defaults and reboot.
When the DMP restarts, you should see RED & GREEN lights on the front of the DMP. If the DMP gets an IP address the RED light will go out and the IP address should be displayed on the Display. If the RED light is still illuminated then the DMP did not receive an IP address. At this time, you may need to use wireshark and sniff the port on which the DMP is connected to.
I hope this helps!
