Check this bug
CSCeg42217: No dial-tone on hookflash if on-hold
Symptoms: Involves two parities (A and B in this example) who are in conversation. When A does a hook flash and tries to transfer the phone to the transfer target C, A will hear the dial tone indicating that A can dial an extension and connect to transfer target. In the mean time, B is put "on-hold" so that B's call is terminated but the call is still connected.
At this time, we block the hook flash handling. This will disallow the side that is put on hold (which is party B in our case) to make a transfer. This is to stop the chain of uncertainty if the party that is on hold wants to make a transfer.
Conditions: This is only applicable on the analog skinny endpoint connecting to Cisco CME and only affects the Cisco VG 224. No command-line interface (CLI) is involved.
Workaround: There is no workaround.

Hi Jason. That's my case too...
I've tried many timing configurations and replaced the analog phone. Still looking for an answer.

Did you try to configure the max and min flash timer on the voice-ports?
voice-port 2/0
timing hookflash-in 140 120
or perhaps even 150 110 as max and min value
Problem with hookflash is that it is never exactly 130ms, especially not with the cheap ... phones

I've found an answer for that on this forum!
I had to set "Maximun Number of Calls" on the device in CCM to 2 calls.
It worked this way:
- receive a call on VG extention;
- press flash, get a new line;
- call second extention;
- hook the fone;
The call is trasfered to the second call.
I had to configure stcapp correctly and activate call control feature.
I hope it help you Jason.

Hi,
Don't know if you had your problem resolved yet, but I ran into the same issue today (my first VG224 install) and found the simple solution.
Just configure the minimum and maximum hookflash timer under the voice-port in a way that it matches your hookflash time.
I have a hookflash of 100ms and had to configure this:
voice-port 2/0
cptone BE
timing hookflash-in 110 90
in your case it would be something like:
timing hookflash-in 140 120
Hope it helps,
Leo

Is it sccp or h323? With SCCP, it could be simply changing the busy trigger/maximum calls on the callmanger from 1 (default) to 2 so the phone could open an additional line for transfer

Hi,
I've the same problems with Max. Calls set to 2 on CUCM 5.1.2.
Is there any workaround?
