Hi, Do I need to install from the beginning like other subscribers to just enable the TFTP service? Can I setup a server and install 3rd party TFTP program and point the IP phone to this TFTP server?

This should be interesting to try. In theory it should work. You probably have to manually copy tftp files. There are 3 folders with TFTP name in it
Program Files\Cisco\TFTPPath
Program Files\Cisco\Trace\TFTP
Program Files\Cisco\TomCat\webapps\wdsoap\Files\Cisco\TFTPPath
I'm guessing all you need is the first one.
And you probably have to update tftp files manually after upgrades.

The problem with a 3rd party TFTP server is that it won't receive the changes made to the phones, etc. You would need to manually copy the config files for the devices when changes are made. I would recommend going through the effort of a CCM install even for a TFTP server.
