DID not working for new user

Added new user and internal ext will ring but not when dialing from outside. User is associated with device "mac" of phone on "user configuration page". Also on CCM "directory number configuration page" the voice mail profile for that user is not in the pull down list but is set up in Unity and has recorded a greeting and is in the corp directory list. Don't know why I can't get this phone to ring from an DID. Thanks in advance!

1.have you checked that you have a dial peer for the extension.

2.is the extension number within your ddi range

3.is the extension in the correct partition/ calling search space etc

just creating a new user and associating it to a DN will not necessarily make it receive incoming calls. check the above as they are what will control whether that number receives external calls or not
