How Location Assignment works on CUCM?

Hi there

I just wonder in Location assignment in CUCM that there is Location configuration on Device and also the device pool on that device. The question is what if I assign with the different Location, what Location will be used?

For example;

There are SIP Trunk: SIP_A

Location: Loc_A, Loc_B

Device Pool: DP_A (uses Loc_A), DP_none(uses Location Hub_none)

In SIP_A configuration;

Device Pool: DP_A

Location: Loc_B

What Location will be used?

---------------------------------

In SIP_A configuration;

Device Pool: DP_A

Location: Hub_none

What Location will be used?

---------------------------------

In SIP_A configuration;

Device Pool: DP_none

Location: DP_A

What Location will be used?

Hello,

The location that is configured in a device pool takes precedence over the location configured in the device when the location in the device is set to Hub_None. If the device location is set to any other user-defined location, standard rules apply and the device parameter takes priority.

According to the above the answers of for your situations will be as below-

In SIP_A configuration;

Device Pool: DP_A

Location: Loc_B

What Location will be used?

On Device its set as Loc_B so it will be preferred

---------------------------------

In SIP_A configuration;

Device Pool: DP_A

Location: Hub_none

What Location will be used?

Device pool : DP_A will be preferred as on device it is set as Hub_None

---------------------------------

In SIP_A configuration;

Device Pool: DP_none

Location: DP_A

What Location will be used?

DP_A will be preferred.

Thanks.
