Interface POE issue

Team,

I have one Cisco switch 4506 series (Cisco WS-C4506-E) chassis switch. Suddenly my IP phones are stop working but data is working fine. So I have checked and found my ip phones are not powering on means my one of module POE stops working. I have 6 module in that switch and POE is stop working in one of the module because of my ip phones stops working.

 

Can you let me know why its happen suddenly and what is the main reason for this and how can I stop in future.

Hi Prashant,

 

you can run the commands to check what could be the reason for POE not working.

 

a. show power

b. show module

c. show diagnostics module <slot no.>

Thanks for the reply but i have replaced the faulty module with new one module and now its under control.

I just want to know  root cause or problem and what should i do to in future it will happen again.

 

And i am trying to use the commnd

CORE_SWITCH#show diagnostic ?
  content  Show diagnostic test content
  result   Show diagnostic test result

But I am getting the two option. Please let me know which option i need to use.

Hi Prashant,

 

If u have any spare chassis, you can check the status of this faulty module for POE on that.

Do u have any output of the above commands when module went faulty so that something can be looked into?
