Internal DNS - Expressway X12.5

Hello,

I have a query related to Expressway MRA requirement of Internal DNS.

Based on the document, mentioned that as per X12.5 version the Local DNS SRV record is not required for MRA to work?

Therefore only Collab-Edge SRV Record is required from external DNS?

Is my Understanding correct?

Thanks,

That doesn't tell the whole story, read

MRA: Improved Handling of Dual Network Domains

Expressway WILL look for those SRVs, and you'd still need them for internal devices.

Noted. Sorry to ask if we are using dual domain and split DNS.
- Interal Domain: example.local
- External Domain:example.com
We should create a DNS Zone for example.com in the Internal DNS that has Cisco UDS SRV record in it?

Thanks sir.

Yes, it is unfortunately not noted there that it will continue to log and cry about not finding the cisco uds record even though it is no longer required. We had opened a case for a bug where upgrading it broke the pinpoint domain DNS server configuration to get around it, so this is better than it not working.

If your not using MRA for internal access then yes you only need to have the Collab-Edge SRV Record in the external DNS zone.
