supplementary services such as hold, transfer, and conferencing when the service is using gateways and clients that do not support the H.323v2

1. Call transfer between IP phone to IP Phone, does that need MTP?

2. Call transfer from PSTN to a IP phone via gateway running H323?

3. On case 2, if GW running MGCP?

Thanks

1) If it came from the gateway, then yes. If it doesn't involve the gateway then no.

2) yes, if it doesn't support the Empty Capabilities Set option of H323V2. This also affects forwarded calls, I believe (been a long time since I worked with a GW that didn't support H.323V2 w ECC)

3) No

Note that it isn't just H.323V2 that's required. Empty Capabilities Set support is required. I've seen where some vendors have professed H.323V2 support but didn't support ECC, so we had to involve a MTP.
