Hi!
I wonder if someone could tell me where I could get a PSTN simulator that I would use to connect to a VWIC on a voice gateway to hand off fxo trunks, a fractional T1 (voice and data) or similar? I would like to be able to pick up an analog phone connected to either the simulator or a voice gateway, go through the simulator and the connected VG and establish a call with an IP phone.
Regards,
Dragi

Use another IOS router with a T1/E1 voice card and a FXS voice card. Something like a NM-HD-2VE or NM-HDV2 would works as they have slots for digital or analogue ports.
You set up the signaling on the T1/E1 port to match what you are using on your existing voice gateway, then add POTS dial peers to route the calls to the relevant vocie ports. Here is a basic example -
controller e1 1/0
pri-group timeslots 1-31
interface serial 1/0:15
isdn incoming-voice voice
isdn protocol-emaulate network
voice-port 1/0:15
!
voice-port 1/1/0
description - 2 port FXS card
!
voice-port 1/1/1
description - 2 port FXS card
!
dial-peer voice 1 pots
incoming called-number .
port 1/0:15
direct-inward-dial
!
dial-peer voice 2 pots
destination-pattern 8446....
port 1/0:15
forward-digits all
!
dial-peer voice 3 pots
destination-pattern 55551000
port 1/1/0
!
dial-peer voice 4 pots
destination-pattern 55551001
port 1/1/1/
!
This is for an E1, but same thing applies for T1, change the signaling to suit your needs
