Running ICM 5.0 Setup.exe failed

When the installation disc for the ICM Installer is run, ICM comes back with the message:

An error occured while trying to run setup (0x80040702)

Can anybody tell me what are the possible causes that prevents setup.exe from running and where can I find the log to check what is the error, thanks!

Try to copy the cd to hard disk and try it.

Also check the even logs ( look for system logs).Make sure there is nothing wrong with the cd rom.

Thanks, but I tried copying the CD to the hard disk and the error still occured.

I have checked and the CD-ROM is okay.

Question: What are the pre-setups that ICM5 checks before it allows you to install? E.g. it could check for MS-SQL2000 installation, or disk partition to make sure there's a C and D drive as recommended? My installation is on a single drive C. Does that matter? Does it also check for two network cards, etc?

As far as I know there is no partition requirements.Yes you need to have minimum Service packs for windnows and SQL.

Thanks for the information. The vendor installed Win2K Server without Service Pack 3 and that was the reason.

The problem is solved.
