Hello,
I'm toying around with a Zaraus PDA and found a demo SIP phone for it (http://www.thekompany.com/embedded/tkcphone/). I have a few questions related to this:
1. Can I register a SIP phone with CM? I'm not sure this is even possible. To my limited (very limited) understanding, SIP doesn't require the functionality of a CM as it does it itself. However, is there any way my Skinny regular 7960 IP phone can call the SIP phone on my PDA (both on the same network)?
2. If yes to above, how do you set up a SIP phone in CM?
Any general or specific advice on this topic is appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

No, you can't register SIP Phone with CM. CM use SCCP. You need a SIP Server to do that. You may have read CM support SIP, but it is a SIP trunk. You still need a SIP Server to cummunicate between SIP Phone and SCCP Phone

Thanks!
By any chance do you know of an SCCP phone that will work with a Sharp Zaraus? It's a linux based unit. I don't think Cisco's SoftPhone will work.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
D.

IP Blue (www.ipblue.com) makes a competitive SCCP softphone for the PC and Pocket PC, but I don;t know of anything for linux-based machines.

Dave,
you might try looking for a H.323-based phone for your Zaraus... You can add H.323 clients into callmanager -- i remember using ophone on redhat in a lab environment a while back...
If you can find one, to set it up in call manager, you'd add a new phone device, specify h.323 client as the phone type & then it should be pretty much like adding a skinny phone.
