softphone directory integration w/ LDAP

I am trying to integrate the sopthone w/ our corp directory . I am wondering, on the directory service page on the softphone client, in the server name box, do you use the ip address of CCM listing on port 8404. Or do you input the LDAP server ip address. If the LDAP server is to be used then what is the default port to listen in on what should you put into the search base field.

I have used the IP address of ldap server and fully quailfied name with no results. In the search base how far should you go down the directory tree? Also what order should they be in, If anyone has an example outside of what is avialble on online documentaion would be very helpful.
