Speaker Phone Disconnect Issue

This is a strange one. When calling from the phone using the speaker, the call is completed fine. During the call if the handset is picked up, then the call will drop. This is not an everytime issue and has occured on both a 7940 and 7960 phone. The phones are connected to CM 4.1(3) through an MPLS WAN.

Anyone seen this before?

Thanks for the help.

I have been seeing this for a while now on some of my older phones (7940 and 7960). After contacting Cisco TAC they referred me to a document detailing the cleaning of the actual hookswitch for the handset.Cisco maintains that becuase calls can be intiated from the speakerphone or the line buttons on the side of the screen, that it must be stuff interferring with the contacts of the handset hookswitch.
