I am a novice at IOS configuration and am trying to set up T1 E&M wink start telephony on a 2811 with an NM-HDV2-2T1/E1 card. I have the T1 set up for:
ds0-group 0 timeslots 1-24 type e&m-wink-start
I am using a T1 analyzer (AM8) to place test calls. The 2811 issues a wink, the analyzer sends the DNIS as 4 DTMF digits, but the 2811 never finishes answering the call by going off-hook.
Some specific questions:
0. Any idea how to correct the above problem?
1. Where do I tell the 2811 how many DNIS digits to expect?
2. Should I be using the "dnis" and "dtmf" options on the ds0-group command?
3. If I wanted to change the ds0-group parameters, how do I shut it down to do so? I can shut down the controller, and I see the T1 go into an alarm mode. But when I try to enter the ds0-group command I get:
"%This group has already been configured; please remove this ds0-group first, then enter with the new configuration."
Then I try "no ds0-group 0" and get:
"Voice port(s) still in service
%This CAS group is not down, can not be changed"
What more needs to be done to take the port out of service?

you need to shut down the voice port that was created.
go to the voice port and just put in the shutdown command.

Thanks, that answered that question. I set the dtmf and dnis options in the ds0-group. Now when I place a test call, the DNIS digits get recognized and logged as the "dest=" field in the "ccCallInfo IE subfields". But, then I get a dialtone. I was expecting that the DNIS should be enough to route the call and there wouldn't be a dialtone... ?
I'm heading out for the weekend so thanks in advance for any replies, I'll get back to you next week.
