We cannot help you on this forum on this issue. You should check with your Cisco account rep to see how you can buy licenses for the new engine.
Once you have the upgrade code, you can input that in the setup. You will need to rerun the Unity setup as there are some new files and settings that will need to be taken care of.

How do you determine what version of Realspeak you are running currently? (I assume that's what text-to-speech licenses refers to...)

Thanks!

whoo ... this one's a doozy....

There are two parts to Realspeak: we call them the "base files" and the "language files". You need both parts to have TTS. The "base" files are shared among all languages, while the "language" files are specific to a language. (Now you know why we call them that. ;-)

The problem is that both of these have a version number. So your base files can be at version X and your languages files can be at version Y. (If you have a multilingual Unity, each language can be at a different version too -- ENU can be at version A while DEU can be at version B, etc. It gets real messy real fast!)

To make matters worse yet, Realspeak has an "internal" version number and an "external" version number. The internal number is what appears on all their dll's. The external number is what they tell folks like us. (And what we then tell you.) The reason we don't use the internal number is that not all of their dll's have the same internal number at one release. In fact, not all of their files even have an internal number.

The more important of the two is the base file version. I'll give you a mapping below of the version reported by a particular dll to the "external" version number of the release. Find the file: commserver\realspeak\api\lib\lhstts.dll

Then look at the file version number. If it says:

2.1.0.0, you have "Realspeak 2.01"
2.11.0.0, you have "Realspeak 2.11"
2.12.0.0, you have "Realspeak 3.00"
2.13.0.0, you have "Realspeak 3.01"

This is what we generally mean when we say "Realspeak 3.01".

There's a separate table like that for each language, but we usually don't talk about the language version as the "Realspeak version". Just the base version. Let me know if you're still interested and I can try to dig language tables up as well... though I don't think we maintain them so well.

OK - sumb question - our purchase order for Unity has a line item for UNITY-RS-4, Unity 4-port Real Speak TTS, and we do have functiing TTS (somwhat computerized voice version) on Unity 3.1.2, but I can't find the files referenced in your previous post at all - let alone check the version - I searched the whole box for them - is it possible we have some "non-real speak TTS, (i.e. is that even possible?

Thanks!

If you paid for RealSpeak but got TTS3000 you should call Cisco and get it corrected.

The engine gets installed based on what the key is set for. If your key is set for TTS3000 then you have TTS3000 installed.

Once you get the key corrected you will need to rerun the Unity setup to get the correct engine installed. The release notes have steps on exactly what to do.

OK - thanks for the tip - I checked the key dump and it's L&H for sure - actually - when we bought Unity 3.x we were shipped 2.x because Unity 3.x hadn't shipped yet - we received an upgraded code based on our dongle whiched shipped when 3.x was released - before I check with my reseller and/or TAC - is it possible that I should have supplied additional info somewhere or should that dongle (if properly issued) have contained all the RealSpeak info too? Just occured to me that maybe I didn't provide all needed infor for the upgrade...

Thanks for your help! Things are much clearer now :-)

they should have included RealSpeak TTS on that upgrade code... sounds like someone just fat-fingered the upgrade code when they generated it or the info got lost in the ordering process or something. They should be able to issue you another upgrade code to add RealSpeak no sweat.

run KeyDump under the Unity program group and see which engine you're licensed for... under the "TTS Vendors" edit box on the right it'll say which vendor is programmed on the key.
