Hi,

I have some questions about codec with ITS.

1) Which codec is the default codec with ITS?

2) Which codec can we use with ITS?

3) Can we use more than one codec?

4) Can we use different codec between tow phones?

Thank for your answers

Michel

ITS 3.0 supports the G711 and G729 codecs, however only G711 is supported for conferencing. The G711 codec is the default. Yes you can use different codecs simultaneously, keep in mind that you could run into transcoding issues if not designed correctly.

Take a look at the ITS 3.0 Admin Guide for further information.

Tanks a lot for your answer.

It's all what I will know.

Tim,

I'm an avid (hah, AVVID) ITS fan but am curious about your statement that ITS supports G711 and G729. Are you aware of a way to force G729 between two IP phones homed on the same ITS box?

Certainly this is possible across an H.323 link (codec g729, on the dial-peer) but was curious if you knew something I didn't for phones on the same ITS.

Thanks.

CUrrently calls between IP phones will only be possible in g711ulaw. FUture additions are planned.

So, if I have two Routers (connected via WAN), the first with ITS and the second is connected to a PBX (Gateway H.323), it is possible use G729 between IP Phone (ITS Router) and the Remote Site (Gateway H.323)?

Yes, in this case you will have a dial-peer pointing at the remote H323 gateway where you can specify g.729 as the codec.

It is possible too between two ITS Routers?

Yes, the same config applies.
