Boot up error on router

This error was shown during the bootup of a 3640 router.

*** GT64010 Master Write Parity Error ***

PC = 0xbfc00c08, Cause = 0x4000, Status Reg = 0x3041f003

Failure detected during ROMMON start-up tests. Restart ROMMON

What does that mean specifically? Is the router totally out?

Hi Frenzeus,

parity errors are usually indicative of a hardware problem. It could be that the 3640 has hardware in it (memory, or netmods) that are either faulty or unsupported.

If possible, I'd remove all netmods, reboot the box and see if the errors has gone. Then, keep adding the mods until you get the error back and that will probably be the module that is giving you this problem.

Good luck,

Marcel
