When I log into my router from my conslole with hyper terminal the arrow keys don't page me through my command history. Only the control keys will do it. If I use my lpatop to logon it works. Why?

Hello Chris,

I noticed that the standard version of Hyperterminal works differently sometimes on different platforms, as you have described. You could try and install the new Hyperterminal Private Edition, it might make the behaviour more predicatble, check this link to download the software:

You should change your properties for your session. Under Hyperterminal you can change the settings for the arrow keys. You can use "terminal" or "windows". You must choose "terminal". You should find this under the section data - properties - ..

I use a german language version, so i can't tell you the exact position.

Furthermore you don't use the same terminal emulation. The arrow keys function only on ANSI-compatible terminals such as VT100s. And when the problem still exists, try to disable the flowcontrol. My colleagues had sometimes problems with this.

Peter
