i am almost there.....hoping someone can confirm that i have this correct?
(intervlan routing (IVR) is currently setup on 3620 on Eth0/0.50 w/ IP of 10.50.0.1. i want to move this to my MSFC2 on the 6509. i currently have ISL trunk between the 3620 and the 6509. do i need to create this again on the vlan 50 interface on the MSFC2? (i am thinking not as there's already a trunk between the IDF switches and the 6509, am i correct?)
i have configured my 6509 MSFC2 as follows:
interface vlan 50
10.50.0.1 255.255.0.0
shutdown (to keep from having an IP conflict w/ the 3620)
This being my first IVR setup on a 6509, is this as simple now as doing a "shut" on the 3620 Eth0/0.50 and doing a "no shut" on the vlan 50 interface on the MSFC2?
do i need to have a route statement on the 6509 to pass traffic between vlan 50 and vlan 1 (default vlan on which most of my flat network resides)?
no other configurations changes have been made

Sounds like you've got it. If your topo is this
vlan1----6k----vlan50
Then your directly connected route statements will suffice - just make sure your default gateways are configured appropriately on the PCs. If you need to go beyond this topo, eg
vlan1---6k---vlan50----router1----vlan100(or Internet)
Then you'll need additional routing statements to get you beyond the connected vlans (in example above, beyond vlan50).
shutdown 3620 and no shut vlan50 on cat6k, if port vlan assignments are correct then routing should be fine.

thanks for the reply. also have these questions...
do i need to config an interface vlan 1 ip addy to the MSFC2 also? (i do have clients on VLAN 1 who need to access to VLAN 50)
if clients on VLAN 50 need access to internet, etc, will my route statement be ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.50.0.1 (this is the IP of vlan 50 interface)?
Thanks
