Hi,

I'm Kiran from India and I want to know if internet bandwidth that is terminating on my router can it be shared between two V-Lans.

Cisco router is 1751 and two Cisco 3550 multilayers switches are connected. Two Vlans are created in both switches Cisco_3551A_VLAN1 and Cisco_3551B_VLAN2. I've taken 256kbps internet bandwidth from an ISP and I want to share 128kbps on each of the Vlans.

Thanks in advance

M Kiran Kumar

hi M Kiran Kumar,

does rate-limit by IP suit your requirement?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, Yes applying rate-limit is one of the solution. Will update you on this once I'm able to provide a better solution.

Thanks

Kiran

hi kiran

well u can share bandwidth using cbwfq.hope thia help u out. well i wait for ur responce.

Hi Amit,

can you please elaborate on this (9cbwfq) and how to go about it. Kindly let me know if you have any yahoo / msn id.

Thanks

Kiran

From what I understood you need to shape each VLAN, if so, on the router do the following

class-map VLAN1

match < users of VLAN 1, there are lot of ways how you can match it>

class-map VLAN2

match

policy-map INTERNET

class VLAN1

shape average 128000

class VLAN2

shape average 128000

interface < link to the ISP>

service output INTERNET

I hope that this is the solution you're looking for.
