I would like to know if there is any command, technique or recommendations on measuring the bandwidth consumption (in % or bytes/sec) on a Cat 4K switch. Thanks.

"show system" will show over all backplane utilization and if you want a per port type utilization you could use a tool like MRTG to get this. Here's a link for MRTG if you want to look into this.

Hope this helps you,

Thanks Don. Is there any other commands I can use to get more info to substantiate that my switch is not "overloaded"?

You and use the "ps" commands to look at your Supervisor CPU as well if this is of interest to you. Other than that good SNMP tools, like MRTG , are the best ways to look at specific port utilization.
Hope this helps you,
Don
