Output Drops and Span Ports

I have a port spanned on a 6509 switch running CatOS that is experiencing out-discards. I'm spanning to a sniffer. The question is: Are frames that are out-discarded on a source port to a span seen on the destination span port?

I see the request for the re-transmission in the sniffer trace, but I am also missing the frame in the trace. So it's hard to tell if the packet got dropped in the network or is one of the out-discards on the port I have spanned.

You might be seeing retransmissions since the packet is dropped. Is the port in question very busy? The following page should help in troubleshooting out-discards
