Hi, I have a switched environment, close to 600 stations. And I have detected authentication in an NT Domain occurs very slow. Some times this makes the switch reboots. I don´t have any CRC´s or Errors on trunk ports. The switches connect to a CAt 2948G-L3 through a BVI Interface. I appreciate your help,

Make sure you don't have a console cable left in your 2924xl's, as with certain ios this will cause them to reboot. I would doublecheck your port speed/duplex since that is typically a cause of poor performance.

I have never heard that leaving a console cable in the 2924XLs will cause them to reboot. This makes no sense since we have all of our 2924s console ports connected via a com server. I would agree to check on the speed and duplex part, but I have never heard of leaving the console plugged in causes the switch to re-boot.

I used to have problems with some 3500 XL's rebooting when closing out HyperTerminal on a console connection. The solution was to upgrade to 12.0(5.3)WC(1)

Thanks for your help, I recently upgrade to 12.0(5.3)WC(1) and I will test tomorrow. Thanks for your help, I also agree with the console topic, I have never heard that before. Thanks David.

Hi, I had the same problem with a Cisco 2924XL. TAC said it was the Nimda worm. I am not sure. I upgraded the IOS and put an ACL on http Access and seems to have fixed it. So I would suggest either diable http server and see that helps.

I already disabled http access. I´m not sure about Nimda. I´ll check and let you know, thanks.

Do you have debugging turned on in your switch? This could explain the slowness but not the rebooting.

What about an NMS? Are you keeping your switch busy with excessive SNMP queries?
